Via Lucis

VIA LUCIS

The Stations of the Resurrection, also known by the Latin name Via Lucis (Way of Light), are a form of Christian devotion, encouraging meditation upon the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and some of the Resurrection appearances and other episodes recorded in the New Testament.

The Stations of the Resurrection complement the Stations of the Cross or Via Crucis (the term Via Lucis is intentionally reminiscent of this), a traditional Catholic devotion commemorating the Passion of Jesus.

I was originally commissioned to scribe and design these in preparation for a book of the stations. Unfortunately the deadline was too tight, but I was inspired by the challenge, and went ahead under my own steam.  The snippets of scripture are taken from the King James Bible.

The illustrations are derived from Eric Gill’s Stations of the Cross.  These are reverse images (negatives) of tiny slices of the originals.  It was a thought-provoking experience to take the stuff of sorrow, violence and desolation associated with such a controversial artist, and to “redeem” it into the transformative joy of Easter.

The image will take you to a separate page where you will be able to see the designs in detail.

NB. This set does not include envelopes.

EASTER DESIGNS

A  range of Easter designs to choose from.  Some, like the VIA LUCIS collection and Easter Sequence relate directly to the Christian Church liturgies of the season; others recall the glorious words of the early Church Fathers, grappling with a new theology of Risen Life.  There are also simpler designs revelling in the joy of the Resurrected Christ, and a couple celebrating new life reflected in the springtime of the natural world.

Individual cards are printed on a variety of smooth and textured board  according to design (300-330gsm board with 120-135gsm envelopes).  Multi-card packs are printed on an attractive white linen textured card (250gsm board with 110gsm linen textured envelopes).

Unless otherwise stated, these cards have all ben left blank for your own message.  Free Personalisation  is available if ordering 30 or more cards of the same design.  Just £2 per design for smaller orders. Please contact me directly for all personalisation services.
